Challenges in the Food Tech Industry- Part-1

With the emergence of people’s desire to consume better quality food, the entire food tech industry has been facing numerous challenges in order to successfully manage the entire supply chain. These challenges include efficiency, regulations, safety and globalization. The expected face of the entire food tech industry depends greatly upon the creative techniques that may be deployed by the industry in the upcoming years. A few details on various challenges faced by the food tech industry in this regard are discussed below for your convenience and understanding.
People and Production
The overall population of the entire world has been rising at a very rapid pace. If you take a look at the statistics, you will be astonished to learn that the population is increasing while the food resources are decreasing at a very critical rate. So the picture emerging after this devastating situation forced some great minds to get to work. That’s the reason why a good deal of extra ordinary people through out the world has been trying to learn different ways to maximize the production of agricultural yields and thus different kinds of food products as well.

Globalization
Retailers have been trying their best to optimize different kinds of costs and to explore different kinds of substitutes as well. As promising as it sounds, there are several implications that are also associated with this kind of global approach. This is due to the fact that different countries that export different kinds of food products vary a lot in their safety standards. In other words, if they believe a certain kind of mangoes to be of premium quality in one part of the world, the other half may find that quality to be disgusting.
The requirement for Safety
The need of food safety has been known as a keystone in the entire food tech industry. As important as it seems, different improvements that have been deployed in the industry over the past few years in order to increase the production have resulted in bringing about a big increase in the associated safety risks at the same time. There is no point of growing the yields of certain crops if the end product is not good enough to be consumed as a healthy food. In addition to this, there are numerous other concerns when it comes to the deployment of safety in the entire food tech industry.
The requirement for Efficiency
Once the raw food items have been processed into the end product, it becomes very important to ship it off to its destination so that it may be consumed within the expiration time of the product. Different kinds of food products have different levels of vulnerabilities. Some of them are very sensitive while the others are a bit tougher and hard to spoil. Regardless of the kind of food product we are dealing with, it is critically important to book it to its destination in a timely fashion. A good deal of efficiency is required in this regard. Therefore, the entire food tech industry faces a lot of trouble when it comes to efficiently handling the logistics. Handling items that require refrigeration is another big challenge in this regard.

Energy and Refrigerants
In the year 2010, a governmental body called USDA took out an investigation that suggests that a high percentage of 15.7 percent of the overall energy consumption of the US nation was consumed by different food systems. According to a subsidiary of the United Nations, the industry of agri food consumes almost 30 percent of the total energy consumed through out the world. 70 percent of this energy is consumed outside the farms in different kinds of industries that manufacture the end products. In other words, it may be said that the entire food tech industry is a huge consumer of the world’s energy. This high percentage is expected to rise at an even higher level in the coming years. So it won’t be wrong to say that the situation is pretty critical as we are running out of fuels and other natural resources while the population of our entire planet is rising at an incredibly high rate.
A big amount of energy consumed by the food tech industry is eaten out by refrigerants and other cooling facilities that are established in order to keep the food safe from bacterial activities. Sometimes, it becomes mandatory to keep the products frozen. Therefore, the industry has to spend a good deal of their resources in order to protect their end products as well as different kinds of raw materials by using means of refrigeration.
Conclusion
As discussed above, the population of the entire planet Earth is growing at a very fast pace. Starting off from this incredible rise and going all the way to the globalized economic developments, the situation faced by the food tech industry is pretty alarming. A big transformation in different fundamentals of this industry has also begun. Moreover, the globalization of the entire chain of food production has completely redefined the safety risk profile of the industry. The demands for efficiency and safety are also rising every day. In addition to this, a good deal of the entire power of our planet is being consumed on the food tech industry.

It won’t be wrong to say that the food world these days is confronting a good deal of fast moving pressures of different kinds. This kind of pressures has washed through different kinds of industries in the past and the results were not very promising. So a similar outcome may be expected in the case of the food industry as well. Different kinds of challenges are arising with every new day and the executives running the food tech industry are working their best in order to cater them successfully. There are numerous challenges that are being faced by the entire industry. The biggest among them include efficiency, regulations, safety and globalization. The only way to get out of these challenges is to devise an effective strategy that may help us sustain different kinds of resources so that the maximum output may be achieved from an optimal amount of input.
